MERC (McGroarty Environmental Review Coalition) is a group of local residents advocating for responsible development and the protection of Sunland’s character, safety, and environmental health.

We are a community-led effort focused on ensuring that growth in our neighborhood is thoughtful, safe, and accountable and gets the review process it deserves.

This is about making sure decisions are based on facts, safety, and proper oversight.

Our Goal: to retain independent experts whose analysis will help ensure that traffic, fire safety, and environmental impacts are fully examined during the review process and to ensure that any development proceeds responsibly, with public safety and environmental considerations fully addressed.

~ What We’ve Accomplished To Date ~

Sunland residents have come together to make real progress:

• Raised intial funds of $5,000 to retain Channel Law Group who believes we have a strong, winnable case

• Formed MERC (McGroarty Environmental Review Coalition)

• Filed an appeal with the City 

• Raised an additional $5,000 to secure an engineering expert, critical to our case

• Retained a Biologist who provided a through report on the possible negative impacts the development posses

• Filed multiple documemnts with the city to support our case (see Channel Law Group page)

• Distributed more than 500 informational flyers while canvasing the neighborhood

• Retained a fire expert with 32 years experience to substantuate our concerns

• Spread the news to local community councils, political officials and journalists
